I’ll be toying with Astra starting tomorrow, atop what we’ve already been building, to see if it can give us a real boost towards building and GTM. Some chance it’s a great fit for us. Will enjoy the exploration… and the ride. :)
Good luck. They have made tokens more efficient; so it doesn’t destroy your weekly rate limit, but a single request can take 5% (if you’re using Extra High effort) of your 5 hour limits. So keep an eye on your usage.
I made a bookmark to market our new book. I used Claude design for mockups and after some back and forth landed on the design. For the back, we wanted to use a particularly compelling image full bleed, bit of opacity w/ some text over it.
But the picture (50yo b&w family portrait) was cropped too tight at the top. After fussing w/ it I realized it just wouldn’t work without obscuring the top faces. I tried Canva’s various AI background fill tools but they all messed it up because I needed to re-size it. So i just threw it at Astra and said add 1/2 inch to the top matching the background. Perfect, first shot.
This isn’t new functionality persay, but the thing that delights me is when a new model can do an old task without the same amount of fuss it used to take.
The Dawn lives! I think what makes AI fun is that you can just do things. You don't need a reason. Life isn't measured by how productive you are. That's a lie society has us thinking. It's okay to take a walk, smell the roses, and be blissfully unbothered by goals. The more you let your inner child play, the more life becomes interesting and adventurous. Do things because they are fun and interesting, not because there's a reward at the end. I just think it's awesome that the store hung up the flier for other people to order the drink, haha.
